GCLD is homeschooler friendly! At Homeschool Hangout, we invite homeschooling parents and children to enjoy a hands-on learning experience together. Each month will feature a different topic.
Topic: Candy Catapults
Presenters: Tonja Macklberg, CSU Extension / Middle Park 4-H Program Coordinator
Description: Come join us for this awesome STEM Engineering Activity, turning science into sweet fun. Launch, fling, and learn with Candy Catapults! 🍬🚀 Kids will design and build their own mini catapults, then test how far they can launch candy while exploring basic physics concepts like force, motion, and angles.
Registration is appreciated for children in grades Kindergarten - 12th Grade. Parents are welcome to attend (without needing to register). Walk-ins welcome, as space allows.
SPECIAL GUESTS! Grand Beginnings is offering FREE vision and hearing screenings for all homeschooled children, preschoolers and school-aged alike. Karmen Reynolds, Early Childhood Health & Systems Coordinator, will provide simple and minimally-invasive screenings in the library's study room.
- Preschoolers & Younger: 3-4 p.m. (during Homeschool Hangout)
- Kindergarten & Up: 4-5 p.m. (after Homeschool Hangout)
- Where: Study Room
- Duration: Less than five minutes.
