Preserve Local Stories with Our Storytelling Kit!

Capture the Voices of Your Community

Primary sources like newspapers, letters, and photographs tell us a lot about the past. But what about the personal stories, thoughts, and feelings that don’t make it into the official record? Oral history offers a way to preserve these unique perspectives, giving individuals the opportunity to tell their own stories in their own words. With our Storytelling Kit, you can bring these voices to life and ensure they are preserved for generations to come.

What’s in the Storytelling Kit? Our kit includes everything you need to get started with oral history projects:

  • Comprehensive Guidebook:
  • Recording Equipment:
  • Accessories:
  • Organizational Tools:

Who Is This Kit For? This resource is designed for:

  • Library staff new to digitization
  • Cultural heritage workers
  • Anyone interested in preserving the local stories of their community

Join the Plains to Peaks Collective (PPC) Oral history interviews created with this kit can become part of the Stories of Colorado Collection and shared through the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA).
